Welcome

Got a comment about a BHC Event?  Maybe the Purim Carnival, or the Adult Purim Schpiel?  Perhaps some embarrassing photos?  Go for it!

Minion or Minyan?

Not even spell check would have stopped this faux pas.  In the inaugural issue of eMensch, the BHC Brotherhood’s monthly email newsletter to members and friends, it states that we solicited 10 men (a minion) to volunteer as beta-testers of our new website.  The correct spelling is minyan, not minion … yikes!  We received a funny email from Jerry … who writes:

The eMensch is very attractive, appealing and informative. Nice Work! One editorial comment - You wrote: “….Ten men (a minion, of course) ….” In normal use, our religious quorum would be transliterated as “minyan”, from the Hebrew minyan meaning “number”. The spelling you use means:

1. An obsequious follower or dependent; a sycophant.

2. A subordinate official, especially a servile one.

3. One who is highly esteemed or favored; a darling.  [French mignon, darling, from Old French mignot, mignon.]

I don’t think that is what you meant of your beta testers. Good luck!

Jerry … our beta-testers were quite independent … on the other hand, they should be highly esteemed and favored … they helped us to de-bug our new website, and will hopefully continue to do so.
